Just got back from the Electronic Imaging conference in San Francisco, “The Engineering Reality of Virtual Reality”, where I got to see Todd Margolis present the HUVR Augmented Reality interface with haptics, which was very interesting, along with a handful of amazing stereoscopic imaging talks and demos from people like Dan Sandin and artists from Simon Frasier Art Institute in Vancouver.
Here are a few more upcoming talks and workshops I’m doing:
California Biennial Sunday Salon: Activism, Performance, and the Ephemeral, Sunday, February 6, 2011, Participating artists: Electronic Disturbance Theater/b.a.n.g. lab, Flora Wiegmann, Carlee Fernandez, and David Wilson – I’ll be on this panel speaking about the Transborder Immigrant Tool. Also, make sure to get a copy of the catalog, which has an extensive interview with EDT/b.a.n.g. lab.
Arts in the One World Conference, Calarts, Saturday, January 29, 2011 – There are some amazing presenters here including La Pocha Nostra and Guillermo Gomez-Peña doing a performance workshop! I wish I could make it on that day! Also the Beehive Collective!
2837 University, Agitprop Gallery, San Diego, CA, Saturday, February 5th, 2011 – I’ll be giving a short talk on my experiences with radical pedagogical projects and taking part in the second part of Agitprop’s awesome new project looking at local systems of knowledge in a (semi)urban setting and the corporatization of the university.
Lastly, I’m so happy to say that Elle Mehrmand, Zach Blas, Megan Skanse and myself will be doing a panel on Queer Viralities at ISEA Istanbul in September! I’m really, really excited about that not only because of how amazing the panel is going to be, but also because I’ve never been to Turkey or anywhere else in western asia!
